Effortlessly Organic Living 9: Lucky in Love (with Yourself)
Friday the 13th reimagined; Valentine’s Day gently redirected—toward you.
A Different Kind of Luck
There’s a bit of a myth about Friday the 13th. Most people see it as a day to stay under the covers and avoid black cats. But to me, this day is a celebration. I was born on a Friday the 13th, and that one fact has shaped my entire perspective: what others fear, you can choose to see differently.
In the world of Effortlessly Organic Living, we talk a lot about removing what doesn't serve us. Usually, we think of that as external toxins, but the most "low-tox" shift you can make is actually internal. It’s the act of loving yourself and giving yourself permission to be exactly who you are—especially tomorrow, as many around the world celebrate Valentine’s Day.
This edition is a special one and a deviation from the norm. It comes from my heart to yours and from a place of complete understanding, as this is something that I have struggled with for most of my life myself. I am still a work in progress and always will be. I’d love to walk this path together.
The Lucky 13: What could you give yourself permission for?
Instead of a "To-Do" list, think of these as 13 "Permission Prompts." Whilst these are mine, for you they are just suggestions to spark your own intuition. Today, I invite you to look at this list and decide which ones, if any, you want to officially grant yourself, or you can create your own:
Permission to be a "work in progress" and still be a masterpiece today.
Permission to say "No" to anything that doesn't feel like a "Hell Yes."
Permission to rest simply because you are tired, not because you "earned" it.
Permission to enjoy your own company and realise you are never truly alone.
Permission to forgive your past self for what they didn't know yet.
Permission to celebrate a tiny win with the same energy as a huge milestone.
Permission to feel your feelings without needing to "fix" them immediately.
Permission to let go of a version of yourself that you’ve outgrown.
Permission to nourish your body out of respect, never as a punishment.
Permission to speak your truth even if you’re scared.
Permission to take up space in a room, in a conversation, and in your own life.
Permission to start over at any moment of any day.
Permission to be your own first choice.
Your Vow
Before the "Day of Love" arrives tomorrow, I encourage you to sit with yourself for a moment. No fancy rituals required—just a quiet acknowledgment of the person you spend 24/7 with.
I invite you to make a small, "Contract of Care" with yourself. Place a hand on your heart and simply say:
"I am the luckiest person I know because I get to spend my whole life with me. I promise to treat myself with the same kindness and devotion I so easily give to others, because I deserve it. I am enough, exactly as I am."
Happy Friday the 13th, and Happy Valentine’s Day. Thank you for joining me for this special edition.
With love,
Shari 💜
